Create/Delete Objects

Use the toolbar Factory to create/delete objects in active scene.

Create a new object and add it to the active scene

To create an object and add it to the active scene, you need firstly to select an object type.

Move the mouse cursor to the combo box NEW of the toolbar Factory (see the hint that appears in the status line).

To select a type of a new object, open the combo box NEW of the toolbar Factory.

The list of object types drops down. Its first line "NEW" is a title line. It does not corresponds to any selection.

See the object descriptions in the status line. Find a desired object type.

Select a desired object type (click on its line in the list).

The list is closed. The selected object type appears in the edit control of the combo box NEW.

Note, the edit control is "read only", you cannot edit the object type name.

The button N (see the tip "New Object") of the toolbar Factory becomes enabled after an object type is selected.

The object type is selected, but a new object is yet not created. It will be created and added to an active scene after you will click on the button N. Therefore it is time now to make sure that the desired scene is active.

If there is only one scene (as on the screen shots above), it is always active and its title bar is highlighted. If there are many scenes (as on the screen shot below), find a desired one by its title and make the scene active clicking on any of its 3D view windows.

If an object type is selected and a desired scene is active, you are ready to create a new object.

Click on the button N of the toolbar Factory.

The new object is created and added to the active scene (see the screen shot below). It appears in the 3D view windows of the active scene. It also appears in the edit control of the combo box SCENE of the tool bar Scene.

Note, the edit control is "read only", you cannot edit the object name.

The object name consists of its sequence number in the scene and its type name. Objects get their numbers in a sequence in which they were created and added to the scene.

If an object is selected in the combo box SCENE, it is also selected in the 3D view windows, its edges are marked by an inverted color. Both the selections work synchronously.

The new object is created and added to the active scene. Now you can edit its parameters and other attributes.

Delete the object selected in the active scene

To delete an object of a scene you need firstly to select it.

Make sure that the desired scene is active. To activate a scene, click on any of its 3D view windows.

Move the mouse cursor to the combo box SCENE of the toolbar Scene, see the hint in the status line.

To select an object of an active scene, open the combo box SCENE of the toolbar Scene.

The list of scene objects drops down. Its first line "SCENE" is a title line. It does not correspond to any selection.

The object name consists of its sequence number in the scene and its type name. Objects get their numbers in a sequence in which they were created and added to the scene.

See the object descriptions in the status line. Find a desired object.

Select a desired object (click on its line in the list).

The list is closed. The selected object type appears in the edit control of the combo box SCENE

Note, the edit control is "read only", you cannot edit the object name.

If an object is selected in the combo box SCENE, it is also selected in 3D view windows, its edges are marked by an inverted color. Both the selections work synchronously. However if you hide the object edges, they cannot be marked in the 3D view window. See how to show/hide the object edges in Filter buttons of Set Object Colors/Filters.

The button D (see the tip "Delete Object") of the toolbar Factory becomes enabled after the object is selected.

If an object is selected, you are ready to delete it. Make sure that the selected object is just that you would like to delete. Note, there is no "Undo" option for the "delete" operation.

Click on the button D of the toolbar Factory.

The object is deleted.

It is removed from all 3D view windows of the active scene as well as from the list of the combo box SCENE.

The combo box SCENE came to the neutral state. Its edit control shows the title line "SCENE".

There is no selected objects, and the button D of the toolbar Factory is disabled.
