Shadow Analyzer -- an advanced solar CAD tool for professionals in the area of Solar Energy Engineering. It expands all options of Shadow Calculator to the class of sun-tracking solar power systems with panels of PV-modules installed on 1-axis and 2-axes trackers.

If you have an interest in solar energy (as a user, investor, or professional designer/installer of solar collectors) and want firstly to know how Shadow Analyzer can help you to error-proof, develop, and optimize your solar project, start your reading at once from the chapter Your Solar Project, and return later to a more regular reading of other chapters.


This is the screen shot of a typical session with Shadow Analyzer. You see the 3D View window with 2-axes trackers for PV-modules. This window is available also in Shadow Visualizer. You can use it for visual analysis of the shading of your collectors. You see also some "solar" windows that are available in Shadow Calculator and Shadow Analyzer only. Each "solar" window has a few pages that display different aspects of the corresponding information. For example, the Climate & Irradiance window (not shown here) allows to set the climatic characteristics of your site. The Solar Day and Solar Year windows display the irradiation, shading, energy losses, and energy output of your system. Some additional windows (you see one of them) help you to configure PV-modules on trackers and connect them into PV-strings. 





Shadow Analyzer is an advanced parametric CAD tool for professionals in the area of Solar Energy Engineering and Architecture. Unlike most of other 3D tools, Shadow Analyzer displays not only objects themselves, but also the shadows they cast. Moreover, it calculates and displays the key numerical characteristics of shadows and their impact on the productivity of PV-systems


Shadow Analyzer is an ideal tool for the analysis of the shadow effects of any new projects or in the case of in-place installation of solar energy equipment. It allows to analyze shadows from external objects as well as the self-shading of static or sun-tracking solar collector systems during a day in several seasons of the year, on any geographical latitude. 


The parametric CAD features of Shadow Analyzer allows you to compose scenes, populate them with objects, change object dimensions, location, orientation, colors, and reflectivities. You can also apply textures to objects' surfaces. After all these transformations, you can save scenes in (.sa1) files.


Shadow Analyzer is a stand-alone tool. It does not depend on any other applications or any third-party packages.
